I’ve been told I look like a builder.
And, to be fair, I can see why.
I’ve got a slightly wonky nose and a weathered look that might fit in on a building site but feels just as at home in a design studio. I look a bit different, and I think differently. My thinking has always mattered far more to my clients than how I look.
The funny thing is, they’re absolutely right. I just build different things.
I build brands that give businesses confidence.
I build websites designed to work hard and stand the test of time.
I build ideas that help businesses become more recognisable, more trusted and easier to remember.
Most importantly, I build long-term relationships with clients, helping them solve problems, make better decisions and keep moving in the right direction.
Like any good builder, I know what matters most isn’t the finish. It’s the strength of the foundations underneath.
Without strong foundations, even the best-looking building will eventually develop problems.
The same is true of brands, and that’s where brand strategy comes in. It’s the foundation everything else is built on.
A logo won’t fix an unclear proposition.
A new website won’t solve a confusing customer journey.
A brochure won’t compensate for a business that doesn’t know what makes it different.
The strongest creative work starts long before any design appears on screen.
It starts with questions.
- What problem are we trying to solve?
- Who are we trying to reach?
- What should people remember?
- Why should they choose you instead of someone else?
Building something that lasts
The tools we use are changing faster than ever.
AI can generate logos, websites and content in seconds.
That’s exciting.
But it also makes the foundations even more important.
When producing creative work becomes easier, the value shifts towards knowing what to build in the first place.
Good creative work has never been about making something that simply looks nice.
It’s about:
- Thinking
- Judgement
- Strategy
- Experience
- Problem solving
Building something that still works years from now, not just something that looks impressive today.
Creative Boom: Why Design Thinking Matters More Than Production
More than a project
Many of my clients first came to me for a logo, a brochure, or a website.
Years later, we’re still working together.
Not because they need constant redesigns.
Because businesses evolve:
- New challenges appear
- Websites need to be improved
- Marketing changes
- Ideas need testing
Sometimes they simply want someone they trust to ask whether they’re heading in the right direction before investing time and money.
That’s the part of my work I enjoy most.
Being the person they call before they make the creative decision, not after.
Building for builders
Perhaps it’s no surprise that some of the businesses I’ve most enjoyed working with are construction companies.
Like the best builders I’ve worked with, I believe in explaining things clearly, without unnecessary jargon. Helping them to create brands and websites that reflect the quality of their craftsmanship has been a privilege.
Whether it’s a building, a business or a brand, the same principles apply:
- Start with strong foundations
- Build with care
- Pay attention to the details
- Create something that’s made to last

I don’t build houses
I build brands that people remember.
Websites that work.
Creative thinking that solves problems.
And long-term relationships built on trust.
